At the beginning of the season, the drivers were Johnny Herbert and Pedro Lamy. Herbert was team leader.
In testing prior to the Spanish Grand Prix, Pedro was seriously injured in an accident and test driver Alessandro Zanardi took his seat starting in Barcelona.
At the Belgium Grand Prix, Alex was temporarily replaced by Philippe Adams, who was scheduled to drive additional races for the team.
Johnny Herbert left the Team to go to Ligier and eventually Benetton just prior to the European Grand Prix. Alex assumed the role of team leader and Eric Bernard drove the second Lotus at Jerez.
Mika Salo drove the second Lotus for the last two races of the season.
